What are Variable Domains and how to use them in HEDDA.IO?

In HEDDA.IO, Variable Domains are unique type of domains that can be designated as variables. These Variable Domains can be used in Business Rules and Actions but do not appear in Mappings because they are not sourced from the underlying data. As a result, Variable Domains do not need to exist in the source data frame. Additionally, they can be configured with a Default Value.

The "Is Variable" option is available on the Domain creation or edit form and can be enabled via a slide toggle. When this option is enabled, the Domain becomes a Variable Domain, allowing you to:

  • Pre-configure a default value.
  • Dynamically assign values during execution using Business Rules.
  • Incorporate the variable into other functionalities, such as the Preparation, Conditions, and Action stages of a Business Rule.

This capability makes Variable Domains a powerful feature for creating dynamic value assignments and enabling advanced workflows in HEDDA.IO.

Important Note!

In the Preview Screen, Variable Domains are hidden by default but can be made visible by enabling them through the Domain Selection. Although they are not mapped in HEDDA.IO, they are still included in the detailed execution output.
