WOODY.IO does not permit empty or null strings in a validation rule that uses a Regex. This restriction is in place to prevent scenarios where allowing an empty string to be considered valid could lead to undesirable, or even critical, outcomes. At present, this behavior cannot be changed. However, we are working on redesigning the business rule engine for WOODY. This new design will provide users with greater flexibility to handle cases like the one you reported when necessary. That said, this work is still in progress, and it will take some time to complete.
