How do I transform the data during Import?

During the Import process in WOODY.IO, you can transform data by using the Transformations feature to modify or enhance it automatically. Transformations are field-specific operations applied to adjust the data as it is imported.

To add a Transformation, navigate to the Import Template, and under the desired entity use the Add Transformation button, which provides a user-friendly interface for setting up these operations. Multiple Transformations can be applied to a single field, and they execute in the order you configure them, ensuring your data is consistently adjusted according to your specifications.

WOODY.IO offers various built-in Transformation types, including trimming whitespace, converting text to uppercase or lowercase, and generating unique identifiers like GUIDs. Other options include assigning import-specific data such as the filename, import date, or the name of the user initiating the Import. These tools allow precise data adjustments, such as normalising text formatting or enriching records with metadata, directly during the import process.

For more complex adjustments, you can use Lookups to match incoming data values with a predefined list and replace them with corresponding values. This is particularly useful for aligning imported data with existing systems or databases. Transformations are applied automatically once configured, streamlining the import process and ensuring that the data is clean, consistent, and ready for use.
